Whether you want to create a workable layer between sittings on a drawing, varnish an oil painting to protect the paint film or achieve a consistent gloss level on a finished acrylic painting, there are many products in the varnish and fixative range to help you protect your artworks. We stock both spray-on and liquid varnishes for brush applications over various mediums. Our stock may include:

 

Spray Application Sealants & Varnishes
 

Degas Fixative
An odour-free, all natural, non-toxic spray, perfect for soft pastel, oil pastel, coloured pencil, graphite, charcoal, ink markers, mix media and more.


Workable Fixative 
Colourless protection for pastel, chalk, charcoal and pencil drawings. 400g Acid-free spray by National Art Materials.


Spray Varnish 
Colourless varnish for use on oil and acrylic paintings. 400g acid-free spray, available in Gloss, Satin and Matt finishes by National Art Materials.


Retouch Varnish 
Temporary protection for oil paintings until final varnishing. 400g Acid-free spray by National Art Materials.


Matt Spray 
Permanent matt protection for photographs, prints, transfer lettering and artwork. 400g Acid-free spray by National Art Materials.


Crystal Clear 
Protects artworks, drawings, documents, paper, photographs and transfer lettering. 400g Acid-free spray by National Art Materials.


Krylon UV Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating 
A non-yellowing, moisture resistant, permanent coating, available in matte or gloss finish.


Krylon Kamar Varnish 
Allows reworking and keeps a fresh-from-the-palette-look.


Krylon Gallery Series UV Archival Varnish 
Advanced non-yellowing protection against fading, dirt, moisture and discolouration. Removable for conservation purposes. Protects acrylic, watercolour, oil pastel, coloured pencil and oil.


Liquid Varnishes for brush application:

  • Atelier varnish in matte, satin or gloss finishes. Used as a final layer for artists acrylics and mix media to protect the artwork and create consistent gloss levels.

  • Liquitex liquid varnish in matte, satin, gloss or high gloss. A 100% acrylic polymer archival permanent varnish, non-removable, exclusive use on acrylics.

  • Matisse Polyurethane and polymer varnishes for acrylic painting.

  • Jo Sonja Polyurethane water-based varnish in satin or gloss.

  • Chroma Invisible Solvent finishing varnish in satin or gloss. Solvent based, non-yellowing strippable varnishes which allow paintings to be cleaned more easily later by swabbing with mineral spirits. Use on oil or acrylic painting, apply isolation coat prior to varnish acrylic paintings.

  • A range of epoxy resin products for pour-on application
